I am directed by the Lords Commissioners
of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you for the information of the Earl of Carnarvon that
Their Lordships here had under their consideration the despatch from the Governor in Council, a copy of which accompanied your letter of the 24 November, with the explanation of the
Colonial Treasurer as to
the conduct which had been impugned by the Committee inquiring into the cause of the large excess of Police and Military expenditure.
